Kiss: person, person, medium-dark skin tone, medium skin tone Emoji

People

A composite emoji displaying two people of different skin tones sharing a kiss, with a small red heart hovering between them. This design uses a ZWJ (Zero Width Joiner) sequence to merge individual person emojis into a single romantic unit.

Usage Context

Used to express affection, celebrate anniversaries, or sign off messages to partners with a digital peck. It serves as a more specific alternative to the classic ๐Ÿ˜˜ or the standard ๐Ÿ’‹, allowing users to better reflect the diversity of their personal relationships.

History

While the standalone kiss mark ๐Ÿ’‹ has been part of the standard since 2010, the ability to combine skin tones for couple emojis arrived later with Unicode 10.0 in 2017. This update was a major push to make digital communication more inclusive by allowing users to accurately represent a wider array of interracial couples.
