Usage Context

History

Included in Unicode 6.0 in 2010, this icon draws its design from traditional roadside mailboxes common in North America. The lowered flag specifically tells a mail carrier that there is no outgoing mail inside to be collected, a visual cue used in rural postal systems for decades.
