Vulcan salute Emoji
People
A raised hand with the palm facing forward, featuring the fingers split into a V-shape between the middle and ring finger. It recreates the iconic hand gesture used by the Vulcan species in science fiction media.
Usage Context
History
The gesture was popularized by Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock in the original Star Trek television series starting in the 1960s. Nimoy based the movement on a traditional Jewish priestly blessing he observed as a child. It was officially added to the Unicode standard in 2014.
