Fast-forward button

Fast-forward button Emoji

Symbols

Two white triangles pointing to the right, encased within a square button. This icon represents the function found on media players to skip ahead or increase playback speed.

Usage Context

Used to tell someone to speed up a conversation, skip to the good part of a video, or indicate that you are eager to move forward with a plan. It is often used alongside the ▶️ or ⏭️ emojis to denote media control.

History

These symbols originated from physical cassette tape and VCR decks in the 1970s and 80s. When standard media control icons were digitized for Unicode 6.0 in 2010, this button was included to ensure that digital music and video players retained a familiar, physical-world interface.
