Vibration mode

Vibration mode Emoji

Symbols

A dark square featuring a smartphone with two curved motion lines pulsing on either side. It mimics the visual feedback displayed on a screen when a mobile device is set to vibrate instead of ring.

Usage Context

Used to signal that someone is busy, in a meeting, or unable to take a voice call. It is frequently sent as a heads-up before a call or as a playful way to say your phone is buzzing. It is often used alongside the 🔕 or 📱 emojis to clarify mobile settings.

History

Added in Unicode 6.0 in 2010, this icon was designed to standardize the iconography found in mobile OS menus. As mobile devices became the primary way to communicate, the vibration icon became a universal shorthand for digital etiquette in quiet spaces.
